F BLock Algbera 2 (Day 1) Apr. 30 — Function Operations

Today: We worked on doing operations with functions, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.  We also included composite functions in today’s lesson.

Homework: p. 400/ 1-11 odd, 4, 23, 25, 31, 37

Next Class: We will go over inverse functions and how they work with the function operations we did today.  It will be so exciting!

I block Algebra 1 (Day 1) Tue. apr. 30 — Solving Equations that have fractions

Today: We worked on solving equations that have fractions in them.  I showed you how to make the fractions go away.  Too bad no one seemed all that interested.  Oh well.  If you want to suffer with fractions, I suppose that’s your prerogative…  🙂  We’ll see how you do on Thursday!

Homework: You will practice with the fraction problems: on the 3-2 side of the sheet, you must do 26, 28, 30-32, 34, 35, 38, 39

Next Class: We will work with variables on both sides of the equations.

D BLock Algebra 1 (Day 1) Tue., Apr. 30 — Operations with Square Roots

Today: WE spent some time going over your homework and answering lingering questions.  Then, we talked about how to add and subtract with radicals.  We said that the radicand has to be the same fro you to be able to add and subtract them.  We also said they act like variables in this respect (and in the fact that you have to use the Distributive Property on them if they are in parentheses and cannot be simplified).  We also talked about how to FOIL two radical expressions that are being multiplied.

Homework: You are to practice the three main types of problems we went over today.  Your homework includes the examples you were supposed to work through during class and a few more of each type.  p. 625/ 10, 16, 22, and 11-27 odd.

Next Class: We will work on solving radical equations.  This should be interesting.  Remember what inverse relationships are (adding and subtracting; multiplying and dividing; etc.).

A Block Geometry (Day 1) Tues., Apr. 30 — Project Day!

Today: We worked on getting the measurements for your height project.  It was interesting how you were able to work together to figure out what measurements you needed.

Homework: Study for your test tomorrow.

Next Class: Your test on Trigonometry.
