F BLock Algbera 2 (Day 1) Apr. 30 — Function Operations

Today: We worked on doing operations with functions, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.  We also included composite functions in today’s lesson.

Homework: p. 400/ 1-11 odd, 4, 23, 25, 31, 37

Next Class: We will go over inverse functions and how they work with the function operations we did today.  It will be so exciting!

I block Algebra 1 (Day 1) Tue. apr. 30 — Solving Equations that have fractions

Today: We worked on solving equations that have fractions in them.  I showed you how to make the fractions go away.  Too bad no one seemed all that interested.  Oh well.  If you want to suffer with fractions, I suppose that’s your prerogative…  🙂  We’ll see how you do on Thursday!

Homework: You will practice with the fraction problems: on the 3-2 side of the sheet, you must do 26, 28, 30-32, 34, 35, 38, 39

Next Class: We will work with variables on both sides of the equations.

D BLock Algebra 1 (Day 1) Tue., Apr. 30 — Operations with Square Roots

Today: WE spent some time going over your homework and answering lingering questions.  Then, we talked about how to add and subtract with radicals.  We said that the radicand has to be the same fro you to be able to add and subtract them.  We also said they act like variables in this respect (and in the fact that you have to use the Distributive Property on them if they are in parentheses and cannot be simplified).  We also talked about how to FOIL two radical expressions that are being multiplied.

Homework: You are to practice the three main types of problems we went over today.  Your homework includes the examples you were supposed to work through during class and a few more of each type.  p. 625/ 10, 16, 22, and 11-27 odd.

Next Class: We will work on solving radical equations.  This should be interesting.  Remember what inverse relationships are (adding and subtracting; multiplying and dividing; etc.).

A Block Geometry (Day 1) Tues., Apr. 30 — Project Day!

Today: We worked on getting the measurements for your height project.  It was interesting how you were able to work together to figure out what measurements you needed.

Homework: Study for your test tomorrow.

Next Class: Your test on Trigonometry.

D Block Algebra 1 (Day 6) Mon., Apr. 29 — Your’e Back … with Square Roots!

Today: Yay!  Welcome back!  I’ve missed you guys!  We worked on square roots again today.  I had fun!  I love square roots!

Homework: p. 619-620/ 1, 6, 7, 11, 13-23 odd, 28-46 even, 57-59, 61, 75, 77.

Next Class: We will move ahead with square roots and radicals.  I hope you know radical vocabulary.  Learning the rules well will be easier if you know what I’m talking about.  Know these words: radical, radicand, simplest radical form, and rationalizing denominators.

A Block Geoemtry (Day 6) Mon., Apr. 29 — Reviewed for Test with BINGO and tlaked about our projects

Today: Yeah, what the subject line says!  We played BINGO with the answers from your homework problems.  If there are some you got wrong, you might want to practice with the odd problems in the review.  You also have packets you can come by and pick up.  Phil, you didn’t come get the rubric.  We also went over the rubrics for your projects.  Read through these and don’t lose them.  Otherwise, you have to print out the replacement yourselves and turn it in when you turn in your project.

Homework: Study for your test.  Be ready to work on your project!

Next Class: If it’s rainy, we take the test; if it’s sunny, we work on your projects!  Pray for the one you want!  🙂  We’ll see who God listens to!  Haha!

B Block Algebra 1 (Day 6) Mon., Apr. 29 — Inequalities Review of the Review and Lienar Inequalities

Today: We went over the review of what we have learned about inequalities (Chapter 4), and we spent a little time looking ahead to linear inequalities, which will be what we talk about in the next class.

Homework: p. 243/ 6-66 even.

Next Class: I will make fun of whoever did the whole assignment, and we will discuss something important that is about to happen to our class.  We will also talk about linear inequalities.

I block algebra 1 (Day 4) Thurs., Apr. 25 — Beginning Equations

Today: We began our study of solving equations.  I know we did this already, but I wanted to make sure you are solid with it this time.

Homework: Do problems 7-11 (the word problems) on the 3.1 side.

Next Class: We will do more problems with this sheet, so make sure you bring it back with you.

F Block Algebra 2 (Day 4) Thurs., Apr. 25 — Work Day on Chapter 7

Today: WE spent the day working on making sure we know how to solve equations involving rational exponents and radicals.  (That was Goal 1.)  We also spent time checking back over our understanding of 7.1-7.4.

Homework: Study for you quiz tomorrow.

Next Class: Quiz on 7.1-7.5.

A Block Geometry (Day 4) Thurs., Apr. 25 — Right Triangle Review

Today: You worked on the review of Chapter 10/ #10-60 even.  You put your answers on A BINGO sheet so that we can play next class.

Homework: Finish filling out your BINGO sheet with the answers to the above problems.

Next Class: We will work on your projects and answer any lingering questions about right triangles in preparation for your test on Tuesday.
