**Today: **We went over the Quadratic Formula and sang the song several times. I hope that it sticks with you for th e rest of your life the way it has mine! 🙂 Anyway, we spent some time seeing the benefits and challenges of the formula and how sometimes factoring or completing the square might be better. then,, we looked at the investigations.

**Homework: **p. 293/ 1-6, 14, 17, 19.

**Next Class: **We will take a quiz on what we have learned so far, go over it, and learn about the basics of graphing.

**Today: ** After you had time to work on your triangle artwork, we talked about justifying using the theorems we know about the isosceles and equilateral triangles. You can use this Google doc to help you keep track of what you need to report on in the end. I will include the table in the Google doc when I have created it, so keep checking the Google doc. Yo will be able to copy it and create a new file and use it on your laptop, or you can print it out if you want. If you’d rather you can keep it on a separate sheet of paper. whatever you choose, you will be posting this on the board, so it will eventually need to be typed or written out anyway. We then talked about the characteristics of isosceles and equilateral triangles.

**Homework: ** Practice some problems with the theorems: p. 188/ 7-9, 11-15 odd, 21, 22, 24-26

**Next Class: **We will go over the investigation you did on slope. Then, we will work with the Pythagorean Theorem and begin working towards our next investigation.

**Today: ** Many of you asked questions about the investigation, and i’m glad. I am worried about those of you who did not ask questions. I hope you understand what you are doing!

**Homework: ** Be ready to make your poster next class!

**Next Class: **You will make your poster and get your test back. We might begin linear inequalities then, but I doubt we will have time for all of that.

**Today: ** We reviewed how to complete the square, and how to use this process when working with functions. We learned that you have to pay attention to the coefficient of a (the quadratic term) and that you have to add or subtract whatever will make zero. At the very end of class, we sang the Quadratic Formula Song. So sad that it was crammed in, but I knew it would make me feel better!

**Homework: ** Practice the Quadratic Formula Song because you will each have to sing it as a solo tomorrow. Just kidding! p. 285/ 29-33 odd; p. 295/ 81-83.

If you are ready to try the Quadratic Formula, or have used it before and want to see if you remember correctly, try p. 213 1-5 odd or more if you like; but try odd problems so you can immediately check your answers.

**Next Class: **We will have a quiz. It won’t be stressful. We’ll check it in class. It’s just so you can see what you need to review. I had to wait, because you will need to Quadratic Formula before you can take it. Crammed, I know… We’ll begin looking at the characteristics of quadratic graphs, too. I know, so ambitious.

**Today: **You worked more on your investigation, preparing to make your poster tomorrow in class. We discussed the slope a little more, since i had done that for the other class. I’m excited to see what your “attempts” bring forth!

**Homework: **Prepare to finish tomorrow! Bring everything printed out already so you can glue it on and make it look pretty!

**Next Class: **We will make the posters. I have construction paper, glue, scissors… That’s about it…

**Today: **You had more time to work on your investigations. Some of you used your time really well! Good work! We discussed how the slope must compare the variables you are writing the equation about. So how can you make your equations use the correct slope?

**Today: ** Was overrun by the test being returned to you. We spent the first twenty minutes working on your drawings, and then we went over the test. Kwanhee read the answers to the homework to you, but we didn’t have time to discuss them.

**Homework: **None.

**Next Class: **We will make sure you have no questions on the homework, then we will talk about isosceles triangles using your diagrams. After we have those relationships secure, we will begin to check off the things on the list that you need to show. Here is a copy of the list of requirements: Triangle Artwork.

**Today: **You received your Exponents Test back. They were rather disappointing. I’m sorry! You had some time to look over them and begin making corrections if you chose to do so. Some of you felt it would be better to work on the paper-folding activity.

**Homework: **Continue thinking about what we can do to be better prepared for your next test.

**Next Class: ** I have read through all of your suggestions on what will make it better, and I will give you a report on that feedback tomorrow. We will begin, immediately, to work on some of the things you suggested!

**Today: ** We went back over some of the basics of imaginary numbers to catch up those who missed the alst class. We looked at how to solve simple equations that had squares. That was so that when we graduated to perfect squares, we would be able to simply take the square root of both sides.

**Homework: **1. Some of you need t finish the assignment or redo the assignment from last class: last class.

2. If you already got those problems right and understand them, you might not need to finish all of these, but they are good practice (like doing basketball or soccer drills to stay in shape). p. 278/ 3-7, 12,-15, and 42-44.

3. Practice completing the square on p. 285 1-15 odd.

**Next Class: **We’ll see how your practice is going. We’ll do a mini-check up and see where we still need to clarify some things. Then, we will finish completing the square. Also, we need to sing about the Quadratic Formula — yes, sing!

**Today: **I believe you have now found the intricacies that are part of this project. Most of you realized that the gas mileage is given in miles per gallon, but the rates you must use in your equations are miles and cost of the car. How can you make this work?

**Homework: **Take some time away form the project and let your brain try to figure it out on a back burner.

**Next Class: **We will continue working on the project. If you need one more class period, it’s OK. I want to make sure this is your own work, so remember that I need to see your “attempt”.
