G Block (Day 1) Wed., Nov. 30 – Finished investigating

Thanks to those of you who worked hard during class today.  My goal is to get you to the point were you can do an investigation on your own in one class period.  You will probably be using GeoGebra, so you need to figure this out.  I will be here after school today, so come see me if you need further assistance.

Next claa, we will begin our next unit.  It will carry on over the holidays, so little to none of it will be on the exam.  We wil also discuss the exam in the next class period.  BUT!!  I am most excited about beginning the new unit.  I can’t wait to tell you about it!  I also hoe to have you tests graded.

Assignment:

  1. Turn in your investigation by midnight tonight.

A Block (Day 1) Wed., Nov. 30 – Beginning domain and range

In order to talk about domain and range, I think we should talk about depedent and independent variables first.  In order to talk about dependent and independent variables, we need to finish Order of Operations.  So that lays out our plan for the next coupe of days.

Assignment:

  1. p. 18-19/ 27-41 odd.

H Block (Day 6) Tues., Nov. 29 – Investigated.

I hope those of you who used your time wisely found that it was OK to work within that time frame.  We will probably come back to these to do revisions and make things more clear and better, so don’t be surprised if you get another chance to work on it!

Assignment:

  1. Those investigations are due to my inbox by 12am.  I’m sorry I wasn’t available after school for help, but maybe you remember how flighty I was during class due to being sick.  I hope tomorrow will be better.
  2. We will begin our next unit at the next class and I AM SO EXCITED!!  I think this is going to be so much fun…  of course, I am a math teacher.

E Block (Day 6) Tues., Nov. 29 – Still absolute value

We took a quiz today.  Then we went over some more.  You’ve each had your individual lesson, so we should be able to do well with this now!

Assignment:

None.  Except let the relaxation of your brain make it easier to understand absolute value!

G Block (Day 5) Mon., Nov. 28 – Investigating Parallel Lines

We were able to spend the whole class period working on this investigation, so I look forward to these being completed by the end of the next class.  Those of you who used your time wisely will hopefully have an idea of things with which you need help during the next work session you have.

This is practice for the responsibility you will have in the next unit!  Practice being responsible!

Assignment:

  1. Continue working on your investigation if you don’t feel the next class period is enough time to complete the assignment in class.
  2. Bring your laptop (charged and ready) to use in class.

A Block (Day 5) Mon., Nov. 28 – Get it in the right order!

Working with order of operations is very important!  We must make sure that we do things the same way as the rest of the world or else it will be difficult to communicate with everyone else!

Assignment

  1. Thanks for emailing me your reflection!  I look forward to reading it!  It will help me figure out what we will do next class!
  2. p. 783/ 10-17.  How you do on these problems will also help me plan for the next class, so make sure you get these done!

H Block (Day 5) Mon., Nov. 28 – Investigate Parallel Lines

You guys did page 2 of the test today, and you began your investigation.  I was very pleased with how efficiently most of you worked!  Good work!  I’m not concerned about your finishing on time.  We will work further on it tomorrow in class.

Assignment:

  1. Continue working on your investigation if you think tomorrow’s class time will not be enough.
  2. Bring your laptops ready to use GeoGebra in class.  You will need to figure out what you are going to do to have this printed out.

E Block (Day 5) Mon., Nov. 28 – Absolute value needs to make sense!

We are spending a lot of time on absolute value, but I believe if you can get this concept at this level, then you will be able to work better with it when you go to higher level math classes.  Keep at it!  Keep asking questions!  It takes hard work to get smart!  🙂

Assignment:

  1. Quiz tomorrow on absolute value!  Make sure you understand how to work the problems using absolute value…  Sorry I didn’t assign you problems to practice!  If you want to make sure you are ready, look at 74 and try some of the odd problems that you can check in the back of the book.  This will help you know what you know.

G Block (Day 4) Wed., Nov. 23 – Test on Parallel Lines

It was the perfect test until the printer got a hold of it!  I hope the test gave you a chance to show what oyu know and yet expand a little, too.  I haven’t looked at it yet.  I’m tempted to wait until my other class has completed it.  We shall see.

  1. None.  Enjoy the long weekend!
  2. Bring your laptops on Monday: Investigation time!
