C Block Methods A (Day 3) Tues., May 27 — Traveling Problems

Today: We didn’t have a lot of time — so short!  But we were able to go over the first problem from the homework after talking about some general questions and how to answer them.  We reminded ourselves that it all goes back to distance = rate x time, so we have to figure out how each problem can use that formula.

Homework:   Try the problems again!  Use the tables and read carefully to see what the question asks.  p. 164/ 9, 11, 13, 17, 18, 20, 21.  Here is the list of topics on the exam: 1314 Akgebraic Methods A Semester 2 Exam Revision

Next Class:   We will continue working on understanding these problems.

A Block Algebra 2 (Day 2) Mon., May 26 — Rational Equations and Exam Review

Today: You were able to check your answers from simplifying rational expressions.  Then, you had some time to work on solving rational equations.  You also found out which chapters will be on your exam: 11, and 6-9.

Homework:   Study for your exam.  Here is a list of all objectives that will be on the exam: Semester 2 Algebra 2 Exam Revision

Next class: We will do the investigation.  You will be able to use leftover time to continue studying.

D Block Methods B (Day 2) Mon., May 26 — Review for Exam and Radical Equations

Today:   We had time to answer questions about radical equations, but no one asked anything…  Either you understood, didn’t finish, or were ready to move on…  You also received the review sheet that listed out the sections we have done for this semester:  here is the handout you received — 1314 Semester 2 Alg B Review.

Homework:   Study fr your exam on Friday (8th grade) or Monday (9th).

Next Class:   We will continue reviewing with the textbooks and test folders.

E Block Geoemtry (Day 2) Mon., May 26 — Circles and Exam Review

Today:   You had class time to work on your circles worksheets or your investigation, and you found out which chapters will be on the exam: 5 -11 (except 10).  This handout will help fuide your studying: Semester 2 Informal Geometry Exam Revision.

Homework:   You might look over a few things (other than circles) for about twenty minutes.

Next class:   The same as today.  If you want to turn your investigation inf for a grade, you will have to give that to me by Thursday.

B Block Mehtods B (Day 2) Mon., May 26 — Exam Revision (Review)

Today: You were able to check your work on solving radical equations and begin your revision (review) of the semester.  I handed out a checklist for the chapter: 1314 Semester 2 Alg B Review.

Homework: Study for your exam on Friday (8th grade) and Thursday (9-11).

Next Class:   We will continue to review.  Yo will receive your folders and have your last full class with your textbook.

C Block Methods A (Day 1) Fri., May 23 — Distance, Rate, and Time Equations

Today: We spent more time practicing solving traveling problems: round-trip, chasing (or catch-up… or ketchup) problems, and opposite direction problems.  A small group of us went over the Quick Checks while the rest of you hopefully worked on your Quick Checks and your homework, though no one came to get those checked off…

Homework: p. 164/ 9, 11, 13, 17, 18, 20, 21.  Show your process and use a table to set it up easiest.

Next Class:   We will go over the answers and process for each of these questions. and begin our review for your big test on Friday.

D Block Methods B (Day 1) Fri., May 23 — Practice with Simplifying Radical Expressions and Solving Radical Equations

Today:   We worked on a worksheet that required you to simply by adding, subtracting, distributing, and FOIL-ing radical expressions.  We also looked, briefly, at solving radical equations.  We looked at how some equations can have extraneous solutions, so we have to check our answers every time to make sure.

Homework: I think you did enough on the worksheet.  If you didn’t finish, you might want to do a few more on that.  Practice a few problems with the equations: p. 632/ 2-10 even, 22, 28.  You can try 43 if you really want to see if you understand what to do!  🙂

Next Class: Review a little more about equations and begin our review before the exam.

A Block Algebra 2 (Day 1) Fri., May 23 — Operations with Rational Expressions

Today:   We did it all today!  We simplified, multiplied, divided, added, and subtracted!  You are amazing!

Homework:  p. 511/ Basic: 1-26 (choose two from each section to check your understanding)
A little more: 1-35 (you only need to choose one from the groups of three problems, like 33-35).

p. 517/ 10-21 (choose one or two problems from each section)

Next Class: We will review all of these and talk about solving rational equations.
