G Block (Day 4) Tues., Aug. 30 – Segments and Angles

Hey, so we started a new section of our first unit today.  We will be talking about Segments and Angles.  I’m really excited!  You will be doing some independent learning and some class discussions and some smaller group togetherness.  You will need your laptop, a compass, a ruler, and a protractor for every class.  I suggest you buy these so that you can have one at home to do homework, etc.

Assignments:

  1. Some of you have not turned in your reflection paper yet.  Please email that to me as soon as possible.
  2. Bring your geometry kit to class.
  3. Bring your laptop.

H Block (Day 3) Mon., Aug. 29 – Geometry Kits

We are beginning Segments and Angles!  New section!  We will be working with those outlines I gave out.  It’s the table that has Segments in one column and Angles in the other.  You will be using a compass, a ruler, and a protractor in class everyday.  You will also need your laptop.

Assignment:

  1. Bring the table (outline) to class if you didn’t leave it in your folder already.
  2. Bring your laptop.
  3. If you have not turned in your reflection paper, those need to be handed in!  I hope to have them assessed by the beginning of next week!

G Block (Day 2) August 25 – In-Class Summative-ish Formatives Completed!

Your project should be in my classroom, but I’m missing some of them!  You all worked so well on your projects!  Good work!  Good questions were asked, and I know some of you understand things you sis not understand before!  Excellent!  I’m excited about taking the time to look at these and read your reflections.

Speaking of reflections, remember those are due tomorrow night by 12am!

Assignments:

  1. Finish your reflections and email them to me by 12am Friday night.
  2. Bring your laptops to class next week!

H Block (Day 2) August 25 – Working In-Class: Time to Reflect

You guys worked so well today!!  I’m quite pleased!  I hope you were able to complete your project to your satisfaction.  I know some of you had to simplify your ideas to be able to complete it in the given time.  Remember that you can come back after school and work until 4:15.

It’s time to reflect.  I assume all of you are going to email me your reflection.  That is due tomorrow night before midnight.  I think Sam was the one who mentioned taking pictures of his project so that he could write about it later.  (Way to go, Sam!)  And thank you, Sarah, for bringing the difficulty to light!

Good luck, you guys, and remember that this is only a summative-ish formative!  Don’t freak out if it’s not the way you want it!  Just remembre to write about it in your reflection!

Assignment

  1. Reflection paper is due Friday by midnight!  Make sure you include all of the necessary information!  In case you need the link to the rubric: 3-D Model Design

G Block (Day 1) Wednesday, August 24 – The Summative-ish Formative

Remember that this will be done in class!  If you are afraid you will not finish on time, you may work outside of class.  I will be staying after school on Thursday until 4:30, so you may also come to room 301 at that time.

Don’t forget the Reflection paper!  That will need to be turned in by the end of the day on Thursday if you want to print it out.  If you want to email it to me, it should be emailed before midnight Friday night.

If you need to see an online copy of the rubric, click here.

G Block (Day 5) Mon., Aug. 22 – Can you see the lines and planes?

You guys did a good job of drawing the diagrams in your sketches.  Remember that dotted lines are your friends.  I’m serious about practicing the diagrams so that you can pay attention to the details as you draw.   (This is where having the graphing paper notebooks would have been very helpful!  Sorry!)

Assignments:

  1. Read through the rubric you got at the end of class.  Someone might have already started making corrections on it, so don’t worry about putting your name on it.  It’s a rough draft!  If you see other mistakes, let me know.  Does it make sense?
  2. Finish Worksheet 1.4.

H Block (Day 5) Mon., Aug. 22 – Relationships and Intersections

What happens when different things intersect?  What relationships are formed?  We saw many different intersections in class today…  I hope the spaghetti and tissues will help you picture these intersections in the future.

We will work on the in-class model during the next two classes and continue to answer questions about points. lines, and planes.

Assignment:

  1. If there are other materials you want to use to make your creation, bring them for the next class.
  2. Worksheet 1.4.

G Block (Day 4) Deiday, August 19 — Making Models

We worked with making 3-D models so we could see the intersections of lines and planes.  I hope you found it at least somewhat interesting!  Question 10 seemed rather ambiguous, so just think about it as what would those elements intersect in if you were to make another problem.

Assignments

  1. Please complete the questions on the half-sheet and tape it into your notebook.
  2. We will begin work on the next assessment in class next time (I hope!), so come prepared to work.
  3. You will need your book.
  4. Check out this rubric (I’m still working on it) to see if what I have so far makes sense: 3-D Design Rubric
  5. Have a good weekend!

H Block (Day 3) Thursday, August 18 – Way too fast!

Day 3’s are just going to be too short!  I’ve got to remember that!  We worked with making the models out of the notecards today.  I think most of you got the half-sheet of paper that had the extra questions on it…  If you didn’t, you must come by and get that from room 301.

Assignments:

  1. Finish answering the questions on the half-sheet of paper.  Since the directions aren’t very clear, please email me if you have a question or post here so that other people can see what questions are…
  2. I am still working on the rubric for the formative you will begin in class on Monday.  Please read it and let me know if it makes sense or not!  Hopefully, you will be able to view it with this link: Final 3-D Design Rubric Let me know if it doesn’t work.  Thank you!
  3. Have a great weekend!
